Books Out, Gym In On Astor Place

Get to the Astor Place Barnes & Noble quickly, before the books turn into barbells. That's right, friends, the latest speculation on the B&N space, which will be vacant by end-of-year, is that it will soon become a brand new gym, just as we opined yesterday. With sky-high rents, expect something more along the lines of an Equinox than a NYSC, but anything is possible. So, who could it be, hmm? Equinox recently added a Soho location, but is still missing a piece of this demographic. Will Sports Club LA want to make inroads with East Villagers? David Barton expanding the empire?
