The 2007 Beach season is not far off, friends. Leading up to the now-annual relaunch of our Hamptons title on or around May 21st, we'll be bringing you selected bits of East End goodness here and over in the real estate and Restaurant departments as well. You commence the sit-ups regime; we'll handle the rest.

1) East Hampton: Ralph Lauren, who seems to renovate or relocate his East End store annually, is prepping to unveil his made-over Hamptons flagship at 31-33 Main Street. Normally we'd take 'Spring 2007' with a grain of salt and tack on six months, but if anyone has his act together it's Mr. Lifshitz, so the RL store version 4.0, at least, should be ready by Memorial Day. 2) East Hampton: The man who makes the best rugged-chic boots in town, John Varvatos, is opening a concept store at 54 Newtown Lane. Per FWD: "The 1,800-square-foot boutique—whose design will be spearheaded by Varvatos with the support of the Kramer Design Group—will be housed in a former three-decade-old film development shop on one of the town’s most trafficked shopping streets. “It’s a great opportunity to experiment with a new concept store in a vital market,” said Donna Faircloth, John Varvatos’ vice president of marketing and corporate communications." 3) East Hampton: We don't know much about this one, but Elie Tahari is opening his East End showpiece by Labor Day (someone in the Tahari planning department has surely been fired) on the corner of Main Street and Newtown Lane. Those walking East Hampton this summer will have to deal with the plywood monstrosity (above) all season, as 'August 2007' isn't anytime soon. NB, it's already annoying the locals. [Racked]
4) East Hampton: Tory Birch will be opening on Newtown lane as well this year, in May if the current schedule holds. WWD: "A 528-square-foot unit at 47 Newtown Lane in East Hampton, N.Y., opening in May will have a resort theme with interiors decorated in a palette of turquoise, green and white, and will carry swimsuits, caftans, tunic minidresses and flip-flops made exclusively for the store. "The store is smaller than we would have liked, but next year we'll expand into a larger space next door," Burch said." [WWD]
