DVFrenzy: Furstenberg's Mega MePa Flagship Quietly Opens
Thursday, May 10, 2007, by Leslie Price
Taken a mere week ago, here are images of Diane von Furstenberg's new, massive, 2,100-square-foot Meatpacking District flagship located at 874 Washington Street and 14th Street. Though the store appeared to be very unfinished at the time, looks can be deceiving: per a call to DVF HQ, we learn that the shop opened this past weekend. Although customers are now allowed in, the space isn't completely finished, as the store's four VIP dressing rooms still need to be built. The VIP dressing rooms aren't ready? Are we really to believe that von Furstenberg is forcing VIPs to change amongst the plebes?
The bare, wrap-dressless interior last week. According to the designer's website, the store "will continue to offer the full range of Diane von Furstenberg ready-to-wear including dresses, sportswear, eveningwear, swimwear, handbags, accessories, DVF Vintage, exclusive runway looks, and Christian Louboutin shoes," as well as "an edited selection of the DVF Beauty collection and a limited selection of the Diane von Furstenberg by H. Stern fine jewelry collection." Don't worry, we'll have shots of the store's high-gloss lilac floor (which you can see peeking out in the above shot), fuchsia banquette and full racks later today.
