Next Stop For Marc Jacobs: West 4th And Bank
Wednesday, October 3, 2007, by Leslie Price

Marc Jacobs really has a vision for the West Village. Unfortunately for residents of the neighborhood, that vision is streets lined with Marc Jacobs boutiques. His latest target is a space on West 4th and Bank Street. Of course, we've mentioned this rumor before, but today, more proof surfaces. From a tipster:

It's true - the lease was signed on the property at West 4th & Bank. Apparently MJ won't be making any remodeling changes to the existing structure, which is why it was so desirable to the company - and why they're paying quite the premium on it. I don't think the neighbors, or the landlord are ready for the chaos of cheap trinkets MJ plans on installing. Not even Sex and the City filming in the salon could have saved it. There goes the neighborhood and one of the nicest, sweetest blocks in the city.
The space that Marc will be occupying is currently home to the Jason Croy Salon at 310 West 4th Street, which we just found out is relocating in a week or two. Question: What could Marc Jacobs, who already has four boutiques nearby on Bleecker Street, want with another space? Seriously, the Racked editorial department is curious. Got any ideas? Leave 'em in the comments.

Ok, I admit I am one of the fashion victims to have moved into the neighborhood and enabled this whole trend in the first place, but THIS IS ENOUGH! I'm ready to through all my marc jacobs out the window.

Honestly is there something we can do? Petition the greenwich vision historical association? city zoning? Picket Marc Jacobs? I'm ready to start a campaign.

Somebody has to stop MJ and stoopid greedy landlords that are committed to trash the entire West Village. MJ stores sell the worse cheap Chinese crap after Canal Street. If they keep the trend there is not going to be more WV left - but then it might just come back to what it was - maybe a reincarnation could better. Fcuk - I think I am day dreaming. STOP THEM NOW!!

This guy went from cutting edge fashion darling to sad, desperate Chelsea clone. His clothes are for shit, constructed for display, not for wear. I agree, the noveau population deserves this but take note: the guy behind the wheel is business partner Robert Duffy who takes full credit for the "transformation" of the Mall at Bleecker. He and Jacobs need to get back on crack so a modicum of sanity can be restored to the neighborhood. Fuck them both.

Ugh. So sad. If this is what happens when you get sober, order me a bottle of Patron and a bump. This guy is trying so hard to make up for time "lost". When all the hot queers were all about flailing their naked asses Marc was covered up with dirty hair, glasses, and flannel. But he was an original with ideas to match. Today he's posing shirtless in magazines and tabloid rags, looking desperate and clueless and his clothes suck. Get back to Paris and back on drugs. It suits you far better, dude. You helped ruin the Village. Be gone.

Marc Jacobs for boys....
Maybe Calvin can be there announcing his time "BACK" in sobriety... they both make me gag.

Wait...he can open a boutique inside the Perry St AA meeting house...
Marc, Calvin and an occasional drop in by that other leather face coke head ummm what's his name? oh yeah Tommy hillfingerme. They can sell all their cheap crap in there.

What a sad day when this greedy landlord sold out to MJ - Jason would turn over in his grave, if he hasn't already!!!!
