RackedWire: Long Wait for Jovovich-Hawk for Target, the Shutter Drops on Columbus Ave and More!
Friday, January 4, 2008, by Leslie Price

NATIONWIDE—For everyone out there waiting breathlessly for the next Target Go International collection, well, chill out. It's going to be a while. An official source tells Racked that Jovovich-Hawk's line for the mass retailer won't arrive in stores till March. [RackedWire]

2008_4_sportsclub.jpgUPPER WEST SIDE—Carnage on Columbus! A tipster writes: "The Reebok Concept Store at Columbus Avenue and W 67St appears to be closing; they had a big sale, and the shelves are empty. Likewise the Rockport store next door." The Reebok store, located on the first floor of Reebok Sports Club/NY, was confirmed closed by a staffer, as was the Rockport store. As to why Rockport shuttered, the person who answered the phone there uttered, "Um, we weren't doing well here." [RackedWire Inbox]

WEST VILLAGE—The storefront that was home for years to Gepetto's Toy Box has been snatched up. A Racked source writes: "According to the former co-owner a new (and yet another) shoe store is coming, adding to the 'boutique row' that has become Christopher Street btn Waverly and 6th Ave over the past 5 years." How not surprising! [RackedWire Inbox]

UPPER WEST SIDE—Prices at UWS luxury development The Melar may be high, but according to a tipster, the building's retail is going to be low-brow all the way: "The Melar - 93rd & Broadway...Rumor has it (from a porter at the building) that Staples is going in on the big corner site. He wasn't sure if Staples would be taking the 1st & 2nd floor or just one floor. Shouldn't porters know this kind of information? Do you know more? We were kind of hoping for a (believe it or not) Gap up here. Have to wall ALL-THE-WAY to 86th st for the nearest one!" A Gap? You Upper West Siders are so crazy. [RackedWire Inbox]

UPPER EAST SIDE—A Curbed reader strives to bring the site's Brompton vs Lucida battle over to Racked: "Have you noticed that the Lucida has two very tall floors for retail space? The Brompton only has one lower floor, and doesn’t have all that below-ground space either. Extell must be planning for major national retailers." Right. Lucida, you win this round.
