Now Open: OAK Officially Operating on Bond
Monday, February 4, 2008, by Rebecca

This past Friday night, with a hipster-heavy bash reminiscent of Misshapes, OAK on Bond Street officially threw open their doors. The interior of the store is minimalistic, with plain white walls and dark clothing lining the racks. The men's and womenswear is separated by a large black sculptural piece that runs the length of the store. The wooden structure is lined with roofing material and created by a local artist to reflect OAK's basic, "deconstructed" aesthetic. It kind of looks like a giant caterpillar.

Decor aside, the store is stocked with edgy and strong pieces by Nicole Farhi, Opening Ceremony, United Bamboo, among others. The shoes are hot, and there is plenty of the store's own denim label, including pairs of navy skinny jeans that just hit the shelves.

The Manhattan store now houses OAK's showroom in the basement. The Williamsburg store remains intact, but the Park Slope location is still undergoing changes. We plan to take a looksie upon its completion next week, and so should you: while their shoppers may be notoriously too-cool-for-school, OAK's staff is very friendly and their accessories are stellar.
