It could be the current economic climate, or perhaps it's just the time of year, but whatever it is, sample sales have been happening all over the place. After Calypso, Soundgirl and Shoes for Lovely People, Elie Tahari, and Me&Ro, Racked stopped by the Abaeté sale at 560 Broadway in Soho this morning. Thankfully, the selection of dresses is ample, with killer mod styles available in sizes 0 to 10, some simple but polished black frocks and lots of funky, brightly-colored loose silk numbers. They ain't cheap, though. Although substantially discounted from their retail prices, the dresses still ring in between $110-295; the average price is around $150. Also of note: no dressing rooms. Girls were disrobing behind the showroom's massive mirror to try on their potential purchases. If you're on the prowl for a few solid additions to your dress wardrobe, stop by, but be prepared to strip down in front of others.
