Jeter's 24 Hour Fitness Gets Into Gear on Fifth
Friday, June 6, 2008, by Leslie Price

Derek Jeter is going to whip this city into shape! The major league baseball player is lending his name (and, supposedly, his design skills) to three soon-to-open branches of 24 Hour Fitness—the first the city has seen. The first Jeter-branded 24 Hour Fitness should debut at 225 Fifth Avenue and 26th Street, just north of Madison Square Park, by the end of the month; the others will be located at 600 Broadway and Prince in Soho and 153 East 53rd Street and Lex in Midtown. Racked photo guy Will Femia, who dropped by to snap some pics of the Mad Park location's progress, relays that the gym is still a complete construction zone. However, the suits at 24 Hour have already set up a swanky sales office next door where you can pre-register for a membership while staring at adverts featuring Jeter's adorable smiling face. The gym's "amenities" include a shop where you can browse for workout gear and a Starbucks, where you can drink back those calories you worked off on the elliptical.
