Nolita: Ilus, a boutique that opened about two weeks ago at 248 Elizabeth Street, is notable for more than their stock of chic dresses: the store allows customers to "lease" garments. According to a writeup on Paper Magazine's blog, Ilus charges between 60 and 125 dollars for rentals, and offers frocks from somewhat pricey labels like Foley + Corinna, Cynthia Rowley and Nicole Miller. The store will also sell you a dress just like any other Nolita boutique, but the whole renting thing is particularly interesting and unique—a legitimized version of the old "keep the tags on, wear and return" routine.
