The times, they are a-changin'. Today, Madison Avenue Spy broke news of the Yves Saint Laurent on 71st and Madison Avenue closing. The store has a particular amount of history: It was the first foreign boutique to ever open on Madison Avenue, and this year marked its 41st in business. Doors will close November 14th, when all of the store's merchandise will be moved to the 57th Street location. The closing marks one of many on the Upper East Side recently; the area's retail scene has been hard hit by the economy.

Nonetheless, there's a silver lining: The YSL holiday sale should be expected soon. The boutique told us they hadn't settled on dates yet, but they're choosing between November 19th and 20th, or the first Thursday or Friday in December. Either way, they'll take 20% off everything in store, according to an insider. We will, of course, keep you posted about the details.—Phillip Picardi
