ASOS may have just recently officially launched in the United States (the website already has 125,000 loyal customers Stateside—including us, we are obsessed), but the retailer is already gearing up for yet another major launch. Retail industry watchers report that the company has recently hired Leighanne Miles, the ex-head of UK mom-and-baby brand Mothercare's ecommerce, to launch the ASOS Marketplace later this year.
ASOS Marketplace will be "fixed price marketplace aimed equally at consumers wishing to recycle their wardrobe and pro-sellers who want an additional venue for selling," says Tamebay—think of it as one big "Buy It Now" site for second-hand and consignment fashions. Similar to eBay, the new marketplace will be user-driven. Unlike eBay, however, the site will focus entirely on fashion, shoes, and accessories.
