This Friday, for the first time ever, Target will team up with online flash sale site Gilt to launch Mulberry for Target, Tucker for Target, and John Derian for Target (above) early—this Friday at noon on Gilt.com before any of the much-anticipated collaborations hit Target stores.
Pro: This is great because, often, Target's most covetable collaborations tend to sell out immediately, as soon as the pieces hit the selling floor—which means a kerfuffle and a scuffle for eager shoppers. Also, we hear all the time that people living in different parts of the country have different levels of access to the designer collaborations, depending on where they live and what their local Target stocks. By bringing the collections online, there's a better chance of getting stuff that may be hard to find locally.
Con: We might crash the Gilt site and/or panic buy too many John Derian for Target appetizer plates and cake stands.
