This morning, we told you the story of a loyal Gilt shopper who was upcharged—she'd bought a dress and a top, Gilt raised its prices on these items after she purchased them, and charged her the higher price. After our post went up, Gilt contacted her and offered her a $20 credit on her account, blaming the snafu on technical difficulties.
We've just heard from another Racked reader who says the same thing happened to her yesterday. Luckily, she caught the checkout pricing error right away. But when she contacted customer service over email and by phone, they told her that they'd give her $10 in store credit, valid for one year, or a call back in "a couple of days," after they ship her item.
We were also tipped off about this Tweet from a customer in California who seems to have run into the same problem with Gilt's bait-and-switch. Her tweet got us wondering how rampant this problem is and how many people haven't even checked their receipts and will just be unknowingly overcharged.
Earlier today, we contacted Gilt for a statement on what happened, and while they've indicated to us that they're looking into the matter, we haven't yet received any official intel or explanations on the situation.
