In the mother of all pop-ups, shoe impresario Manolo Blahnik has teamed up with Liberty of London on The World of Manolo, only at the Regent Street shop and (thankfully for the rest of the world) online. Debuting on London's Fashion's Night Out in September, the pop-up shop offers exclusive limited edition items featuring not only Liberty's archival prints, but also Manolo Blahnik designed original ones. Available for only three and a half months, the collection features footwear, scarves and almost every accessory on the planet.
We need to discuss the shoes, of course. The shop-in-shop channels Alice—in Retail Heaven—Wonderland with whimsical garden-like sketch installations and bright patchwork chaise lounges. The shoes themselves are complete eye candy with velvet Victorian era-inspired booties (£720, meaning $1140+ for us), jewel-toned gold-lined silk dancing heels (£510 or US$810), adorable Easter egg-hued Liberty print court shoes (£480 or US$760+) and don't even think about the black and white sketch graphic stilettos (£440 or US$700-ish) because those are on waiting list. If you're feeling like some full-on internet shoe porn, work your way through the entire collection.
But for those of us with Manolo tastes, but Aldo budgets (or should we say, River Island, since we are talking London), there's still optimum opportunity to take home a piece of the World of Manolo. The new and archival prints are available on accessories ranging from stationary with sketches of the shoes (single cards, only £2.95, less than US$5), fanciful totes (£25, roughly US$40), lovely silk print scarves (£105, US$167), a plethora of notebooks and address books (around £32, US$50-ish) and more.
For those heading over for the holidays, Manolo himself will be creating special seasonal décor and window displays, plus adding in festive themed items, too. No complaints here, it's luxury for every budget.
