This afternoon we popped by the soon-to-be-Jack-Wills location on Newbury Street secretly hoping that the first American, uh, inner-city branch of one of our favorite English heritage-inspired label might already be in soft-opening mode. No such luck. But the space that will, one day, become the front door to the what looks like a two-story boutique was open, so we peeked in. As it stands right now, 179 Newbury Street is a complete raw space—no paint, no fixtures, no finished flooring—so we're not sure just how long the good people of Boston will have to wait for some rah-style gear. Pics of the inside after the jump.
This is the lower ground floor of 179 Newbury Street. The floor plan looks like a pretty standard Jack Wills store—with a smaller ground floor footprint that extends back into fitting rooms in the rear. Every Jack Wills store features different decor, but it's safe to say each shop adheres pretty strictly to the collegiate look. We've been in Jack Wills stores that look like shared student houses and Jack Wills stores that look like posh spring break rentals.
To the left of the entrance there seem to be a series of shelves—to be honest, we're not sure if these are coming or going, but there are always at least one set of shelves at Jack Wills stores for holding T-shirts, button down shirts, and other foldables.
