Tonight's challenge: partners! It's the first time our designers have had to work together, and here's how it goes.
First sale of the night, H&M offers $90K for Nikki Poulous' printed deep-V maxi dresses. Nicole Christie from H&M: "People will run into the store to but that dress." And they'll be running to buy it online, too, so hurry up and get over there if you're interested. Though, in the final version, H&M didn't produce the dress in the red pattern we liked, only in a blue version, and the deep V was significantly modified to be more of a very-appropriate-for-a-neighborhood-block-party-V. But nonetheless it is available right now for $19.95.
Next sale, Ronnie Escalante's backless sheath goes to Macy's for $110K. He looks like he's about to cry, which is pretty adorable. Macy's produced the dress in all three iterations (the only garment this episode to warrant that distinction). You can still get it in black, fuschia, or a modern floral grounded on metallic gold, but Macy's did modify the back so that it's open to just below the shoulder blades instead of keeping a true open back as shown on the runway. If you're still interested, go and get it for $119.
Escalante's partner, Luciana Scarabello, gets the lone Saks win for the evening, and her her black sheath with sweetheart neckline and side cut-outs is available right now on Saks' site for $295.
Next, Sarah Parrott sells her reversible blazer to H&M (shocker). "It's almost like the new cardigan," says Nicole Christie. There were some fairly noteworthy modifications in production, however. Christie said she loved the runway version for it's lack of closure, which she felt gave the garment "movement," but the final edition (one version only: black with teal lining) is shown on H&M's website fastened at the waist with a hook-and-eye closure. It's also described as fitted and "short," and seems to lack all of the drapiness that gave the runway version it's swag. It was sold out online when we checked at 11:06, but if you're headed to an H&M near you tomorrow, it can be yours for $29.95.
From the same group, Ross Bennett's cropped, preppy vest is picked up by Caprice Willard of Macy's, who tells him she's a "big believer" and that he's "just hitting his stride." Both a pink pinstriped and navy version are still available for $59 each.
