Hold on to your place settings: Designer gowns are coming to nuptials near you. Designers filled New York Bridal Week with the usual flurry of ivory-hued tulle in conservative styles, of course, but making surprise appearances were baby blue, various shades of red, and...sparkly metallics. Though some designers went all Kate Middleton this season (Christos, Temperley London), WWD has rounded up the more off-beat trends, and we're happy to report that designers pushed more limits in their Spring 2013 lines, occasionally breaking entirely out of the traditional wedding mold.
Cases in point were reigning wedding monarchs Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang: He showed blue dresses, inventively placed tulle (a lot of it), and a midriff-baring pantsuit, while she showed an entire collection of red hot gowns. The peplum also hit the bridal scene in full force (Romona Keveza), and hemlines crept up to after-party length at shows like Amsale and Rafael Cennamo. Check out everything from the wildly off-beat to the conventionally pretty in gallery above. Fire up those Pinterest boards, and check out ours, while you're at it.
