Though Pinterest is still relatively new, brands are beginning to recognize the platform's power—it attracted its first 10 million users faster than any other website in history, after all—and more and more of them are getting in on the action. That especially includes fashion brands: Four out of the five top retailers on Pinterest are fashion retailers, according to Mashable, and they're not necessarily the brands we would have expected. [Ed note: Since the Mashable piece was published, the number of followers for each brand has upped pretty dramatically. We've posting the order and numbers cited in the article, rather than real time.] Here's the breakdown:
Screen grab of Neiman's "#NMLoubiLove" board
5. Neiman Marcus. The brand has more than 6,500 followers and 40 boards so far, and they range from the inspirational— gorgeous black and white portraits of well-known designers and seasonal prints—to the specifc—SXSW street style and a board devoted solely to the love of Louboutins.
Screen grab from Vera Bradley's "Inspiration: Priscilla Pink" board
4. Vera Bradley. The purveyor of distinctive quilted bags has more than 7,000 followers and 20 pin boards, most of which are heavy on cheerful, glowy inspiration imagery: macarons, flowers, picnics, etc. Head over for a carefully curated preppy fantasy world.

3. Barneys NY. One of the most prolific pinners around, at least as far as brands go, Barneys has more than 7,500 followers, 45 boards, and more than 1500 pins. The mood skews slightly edgy, with less sunny inspiration fodder and more fashion-forward street-style pins.
A screen grab of Williams Sonoma's "How To" board
2. Williams Sonoma. Williams Sonoma's 30 pin boards function essentially as a smorgassboard of food porn. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Screen grab from Nordstrom's "Stripes" trend board
1. Nordstrom. The luxury department store leads the retail game with more than 16,000 followers. They've got boards for seasonal trends, editorial images from the Nordstrom catalog, and weddings, weddings, and more weddings. So basically, a pinners dream.
