Anna Wintour dishes on her famous first cover as Vogue EIC, in which Israeli model Michaela Bercu sported the revolutionary combo of a Christian Lacroix bejeweled jacket and acid-washed Guess jeans. "The jacket was actually part of a suit, but the skirt didn't fit Michaela; she had been on vacation back home in Israel and had gained a little weight. Not that it mattered," she says. "In fact, it only served to reinforce the idea to take couture's haughty grandeur and playfully throw it headlong into real life and see what happened." Also, the article also features a slideshow of her favorite Vogue photos that is definitely worth a look. We're talking old school swimmers, Winston Churchill, and a rhino mouse. [Vogue]
