Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail wasn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.

Hamish Bowles is the International Editor at Large for Vogue, and one of the most dapper men in fashion. When he's not reporting, or occupying front row seats next to Anna Wintour at Fashion Week, the British-born writer has authored books on Jacqueline Kennedy, Carolina Herrera, Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga and consulted on fashion exhibits at some of the top museums in the world. When we asked Hamish for a Buyer's Remorse story, he told us about a garment we would never have imagined such an an impeccably styled man would buy.
Racked: Can you think of a time you've had Buyer's Remorse over something you bought?
Hamish Bowles: Oh yes, fashion sweatpants.
Racked: What color were they?
Hamish Bowles: They were lavender, so they were in the zone, but I did them to impress someone and it was a mistake.
Racked: What brand were they?
Hamish Bowles: Actually I can't remember because it was a long time ago, about twenty, twenty-five years ago.
Racked: And what did you not like about them?
Hamish Bowles: The entirety of the concept.
