Yogawear stalwart Lululemon faced growing competition in the past two years on both the large (Under Armour) and small (Canada's Lolë) fronts, according to a Reuters report. But the launch, and subsequent success, of yuppie yoga pants companies is actually good news for the staying power of feminine athletic apparel in the retail sector.
CEO of Lolë's parent company notes that such a niche clothing style entering the mainstream is "not unlike the ascendance of blue jeans in the 1970s" and that "especially for women, both fashion and technical are merging. You cannot have technical clothing for ladies which is not feminine and beautiful." This also means we get to look forward to many more Lululemon copyrights lawsuits in the future.
