Nasty Gal's meteoric rise in fashion over the past two years has been closely watched with awe—and in somes cases, apparently, envy. Fashionista published an article yesterday suggesting that Nasty Gal is setting the new e-commerce standard for fast fashion, and that the brand's success has spawned a whole generation of copy cat sites.
Fashionista makes a pretty good case. Citing brands from NY-focused Shop Young Love to UK import Misguided, there seem to be a handful of young labels with the same gritty-sexy point of view that makes Nasty Gal stand out. They also adhere to the same under-$100 price range that makes Nasty Gal so accessible.
Of course, whether the world truly wants or needs more cheap, sexy clothes is another question, but for now, at least, at least a handful of retailers seem to be willing to bank on Nasty Gal's forumla for success. Head to Fashionista to read the article, and let us know what you think in the comments.
