Massive changes are afoot on the Bag Snob front. The blog's founders Tina Craig and Kelly Cook signed on with Beanstalk Group as the licensing agent for a new label called Snob Essentials. The launch involves a lot of moving parts, the first of which is a website makeover, where they'll aggregate all Snob brands—Bag, Beauty, Couture, Jewel, Shoe and Tot—under one super-URL called SnobEssentials.com. Look for its debut later this month. At the same time, they're launching a leather handbag line retailing from $250 to $400 at better department stores. With the new range and the revamped site combined, they hope to eventually offer e-commerce.
But as Craig explained to WWD, e-commerce is just one of their ultimate goals and will encompass sales "not only of our own brand but multibrands at different price points—anything we deem Snob-worthy—whether it's a $50 top or a $20,000 bag."
If you couldn't tell, Craig and Cook are aiming high and casting a wide net with the help of their new partner. The chief exec of Beanstalk told WWD, "We'll start in handbags, denim, sportswear, footwear and potentially move into other categories that they love, like beauty and home [...] If we pull this off it will be the first time a blog made the transition to lifestyle brand at retail."
The ethos of the future brand will be quality wardrobe staples to mix with high and low items. Or as Craig notes, "We want that girl who wants to be updated every season without looking too trendy, too old or too young. It will always be essentials, the travel jean, the travel outfit, the travel shoe. I feel like that's missing."
Recall, that this isn't the first time the two have tried their hand at design. They have two collaborations under their belt with DKNY and DL1961. Now we get to see what happens with bloggers dive head first into complete lifestyle branding. Stay tuned.
