Now that the frenzy of Phillip Lim for Target is safely in shoppers' rear view mirrors, it's time to concentrate on what will surely amount to the biggest, wildest collab of the fall: Isabel Marant for H&M. That's right, it's time to break out the camping gear and get your game face on.
So far, the public has only been given one teensy glimpse of the sizeable collection, which will include clothing and accessories for men, women and teens when it hits 250 H&M stores worldwide on November 14. In October's Harper's Bazaar, though, there is a peek at four more pieces from the collection (that jacket!!) as well as some of Marant's thoughts on the partnership.
The designer dismisses fears that this will come across as a junky version of her pricey line. "It was clear from the beginning that we didn't want to just do a cheap version of Isabel Marant, so we worked around keeping a really high level of quality in the fabrics and the manufacturing, doing things by hand," she explained.
Per the article, the collab will include tees, sweats and tribal-chic jackets similar to what the designer showed in Spring 2010; embroidered dresses that resemble what came down the runway from Fall 2012; and intriguing sounding "shaggy sweaters" made of loops of wool yarn that come both oversize and cropped. "We did a kind of knitted 'fur' in wool, which is super cool," Marant said. Eeeeh! Pick up the October issue of Bazaar for more info and to study that composite photo very, very carefully.
