Tim Gunn, our nation's favorite sassy-yet-caring uncle figure, has signed on to pen a delightful monthly column about politician style, reports our sister site in DC. In his first edition, he tackles a bevy of folks that might be interested in a national run, including VP Joe Biden, Republican senator Ted Cruz, New Jersey governor Chris Christie and former VP-in-the-running Paul Ryan.
Ryan gets props for "his nice wardrobe of preppy staples," but criticism for his favorite "frat-boy khaki (a word that comes from the Persian for 'dirt')." Praise goes to Cory Booker, Michele Bachmann (though he does not love her propensity for pearl necklaces), Maryland governor Martin O'Malley and Hillary Clinton. South Carolina governor Nikki Haley gets a pass for her "unpredictable and erratic" outfits, with Gunn asking, "is that the description of someone we want to have the nuclear codes?"
