Gap recently blanketed New York with its "Make Love" campaign which features, among others, fashion personality Waris Ahluwalia and model Quentin Jones. Recently, some punks decided to deface one of the ads (typical), using a marker to scrawl, "Please stop driving TAXIS," and changing, "Make Love" to, "Make Bombs." When a senior editor at Islamic Monthly saw the altered ad, he posted it to Twitter, where it came to Gap's attention.
Instead of simply ignoring it, Gap decided to take an internet stand. The company changed its Twitter and Facebook backgrounds to the photo of Ahluwalia, a small but highly-impactful move. Reactions have poured in from the Sikh community such as this one, on Facebook, "It felt awesome walking past this poster wearing turban...! #sikhi #proud."
