Target is an ace at barely finishing designer collabs before moving on to the next thing. And in true form the retailer announced today that the next collaboration is a party planning-themed roll out that enlists the help of top Pinners on Pinterest, or rather "new era of tastemakers" in Target's words.
The three chosen ones—Joy Cho of Oh Joy!, Jan Halvarson of Poppytalk and Kate Arends of Wit & Delight—each have their own design blog. They'll create one-off collections launching incrementally through September that will include party décor, paper products and serving pieces with price points ranging from $3 to $25.
First up is Joy Cho. Her collection is due out on March 16 and Pinterest users can preview it on a shared board. In response to the collection hitting her Pinterest, Cho's regular followers are oscillating between adoring support for the collection and being kinda of bummed out that Target is taking over. "[I] don't mind Oh [J]oy pins showing up, as I do follow, and expect brand promotion," said one. "But suddenly having Target pins show up—that's too much. [T]he marketing needs to be a little softer."
So gird your boards, Poppytalk and Wit & Delight followers. Those collections will drop in June and September, respectively.
