In a new tradition that deserves the world's full support, Ivan Rakitic of Croatia and Stéphane Mbia of Cameroon exchanged shorts after their match last night.
Jerseys are typically traded post-match as a sign of peace and goodwill and free souvenirs, but a shorts swap is a little odd. The pair were former Sevilla teammates, so maybe it was an inside joke? A bet? Maybe their shirts, which were hanging around their necks, were already promised to others? Maybe we'll just add this to a soccer ritual that we, as Americans who prioritize shoes over sports, do not understand.
