Steve Madden, shoe king of the '90s and early aughts, has just bought Dolce Vita for a cool $60.3 million in cash. Cash. Madden's purchase of the company also gives him ownership over the other brands under the Dolce umbrella: DV by Dolce Vita, DV8 and J.D. Fisk, which are only sold now through wholesale accounts at stores like Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Shopbop, and more.
This summer, the brand closed its only freestanding store, after having moved two years prior to a location with more foot traffic than its original home. WWD adds that founders Van Lamprou and Nick Lucio will "continue to head up the Dolce Vita business and become employees of Steve Madden."
