Crew members at Virgin Atlantic say their stylish new uniforms designed by Vivienne Westwood are so uncomfortable, they're actually causing injuries. The Daily Mail reports that cabin crew's collars are so tight that staff members have been left bleeding. That doesn't say a lot for the recycled polyester that's used to make the uniforms. Virgin crews also said that the shoes caused blisters and the high-waist pencil skirts are ill-fitting.
The red uniforms debuted September 1st, with a blowout launch party over the summer attended by Richard Branson, Vivienne Westwood, and Debbie Harry. A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson told the Daily Mail that everything is fine and the uniforms could be tailored if they're uncomfortable: 'Virgin Atlantic is extremely excited to launch its new uniform collection and initial feedback from staff has been fantastic...We recognize that the fit is different to the previous uniform and to ensure correct sizing, all staff tried on the uniform and were fitted by our expert team upon collection. We have uniforms available in sizes from 6 to 30 and garments can be tailored to fit all shapes and sizes." Read Virgin's full response at Fast Company.
