Aw, Alber Elbaz. In New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman's latest video, the Lanvin designer reveals that his office is the only place in the world where he feels "skinny and beautiful." Maybe that's why he's a total workaholic. He works from 9am to 10pm or 11pm most days, and he works Saturdays and Sundays too. In the video, Elbaz explains:
I always feel more comfortable here. It's the only place that i feel skinny and beautiful. The moment I get out from my office, I feel I am worth nothing. I'm not athletic, I don't like the sun, I hate the sand, I don't like vacation, I don't bike even. Here I feel I know everything. It's easier. He once tried yoga, but that didn't go so well. Elbaz said, "Once I thought, Wow, it would be great to have a yoga teacher that should come at 6 o'clock to 7. Well, she came one time and no more, but I have the mattress."
He also reveals that he's not much for technology, and he doesn't use a computer. "I don't tweet, and I don't Instagram, and I don't have an email address, and I don't drive. I bought a phone once because it looked so high-tech, but the only thing I do with it is the green button and the red button. I don't know how to use the rest of it," Elbaz said.
One incredibly nice thing he does is give his sketchbook away to a friend after each collection. "I give it with a bit of a tear in my eye, but it's not a tear that comes out, it's a tear that stays in. And I always say, "If I need it back, I'll come and ask for it." And they say, "O.K., we'll just keep it for you." And they do. And then I start a new book," he said.
