Turnbull & Asser Joins Ranks With Jean Shop

2008_5_turnbulljeanshop.jpg

Last night, Meatpacking District boutique Jean Shop debuted a line of button-down shirts with Turnbull & Asser, a 122-year-old English company known for their made-to-measure clothing. The T&A long-sleeve button-down shirts arrive at Jean Shop white; the store then dyes them whatever color you'd prefer. The price for this type of customization: $280. Since the idea behind Jean Shop is to take Selvage denim and wash or distress it to the customer's specifications, working with tops seems a natural next step. The partnership goes both ways: Turnbull & Asser's 57th Street shop will also sell specially-design Jean Shop jeans.

Tiffany volunteers take the High Line

MEPA—A bunch of Tiffany staffers helped clean up the High Line last week. The park's blog has photos of the exercise, in which the all-female crew bagged up trash that was then hauled off by the parks department. Beats a day behind the display case? [High Line Blog]

CARROLL GARDENS—The Brooklyn Indie Market, the bazaar that sits under a little collection of striped tents on a lot at the corner of Smith and Union Streets, is opening for the season this Saturday, May 3rd.
