Last night, Meatpacking District boutique Jean Shop debuted a line of button-down shirts with Turnbull & Asser, a 122-year-old English company known for their made-to-measure clothing. The T&A long-sleeve button-down shirts arrive at Jean Shop white; the store then dyes them whatever color you'd prefer. The price for this type of customization: $280. Since the idea behind Jean Shop is to take Selvage denim and wash or distress it to the customer's specifications, working with tops seems a natural next step. The partnership goes both ways: Turnbull & Asser's 57th Street shop will also sell specially-design Jean Shop jeans.

The Chelsea Car Wash on 14th St and Tenth Ave in MePa will be closing soon to make way for new retail. "There’s currently no tenant booked, but in the next year or so, the Milk Group (as in Milk Studios, next door), aims to find a design, fashion, or other retail tenant for this 40,000-square-foot space directly underneath the High Line. Renderings from their sales office show wrap-around windows in Car Wash-like glass. There’s also apparently a subterranean level for more retail." [High Line Blog]
MEATPACKING—Earnest Sewn's next pop-up concept has been revealed: The denim store's collaborating with the designers of Ruffian. "From May 27 to June 9, designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais will take over Earnest Sewn's back room project space to showcase their fall collection. For the two-part collaboration, Ruffian will use the premium denim from Earnest Sewn and fashion it into tailored garments, while Earnest Sewn mixes Ruffian's custom-designed European textiles and adds their own unique denim expertise to create the ultimate luxury jean." The rumor was that Ralph Lauren was interested in the storefront, but WWD confirms that the next tenant will be the cheap shoe chain. "As for Steve, which will take over The Hog Pit after it closes on Jan. 19, [Hog Pit co-owner Felisa] Dell said, "I'm actually kind of happy. Everything around here is so chi-chi." [WWD; Racked]
