Time for a fun new game, folks. We've picked the highest-ranked Street Scenes subjects of the past week from Racked NY and Racked LA; now you decide which coast has the best style.
On the left we have our NYC contender, Stewart, (68.9% Perfection!/20.6% I feel strangely ambivalent about it./10.5% Who did this to you?) wearing jeans and a cardigan from A.P.C., a Hanes tee and Johnston & Murphy shoes. On the right we have our LA contender, Giovanna, (43.2% Perfection!/17% So close./27.3% I feel strangely ambivalent about it./12.5% Who do this to you?) dressed in a Forever 21 dress, earrings from Puerto Rico, Gucci sunglasses, Gracie sandals and a Louis Vuitton purse.
Today's Street Scenes subject is Stewart, shot on Mercer Street between Prince and Spring Streets in Soho. Feel free to vote on whether you like or dislike his outfit below—your choices are 'Perfection!,' I feel strangely ambivalent about it,' or 'Who Did This To You.'
Label:Jumelle Deal:25 to 75% off Spring/Summer collections (brands include A.P.C., Isabel Marant, Karen Walker, Mayle and Lover) When/Where:Thursday, July 10th through Sunday, August 17th. Mon 1—7:30pm; Tue—Sat noon—7:30pm; Sun noon—7pm. 148 Bedford Ave between North 8th and North 9th Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-388-9525).
Genius or gross: A.P.C. is releasing a line of denim called "Butler Worn Out" that have that perfectly broken-in look...because the brand had someone actually wear the pants in before they were sold. So you can keep tabs on who's shared the crotch space of your pants, the name (or initials - it's unclear at present) of the person that wore them before you will be written inside the jeans. What's next—pit-stained tees at Barneys?

Today's Street Scenes subject is Ouigi, shot on the corner of Bergen and Nevins Streets in Boerum Hill. Feel free to vote on whether you like or dislike his outfit below—your choices are 'Perfection!,' I feel strangely ambivalent about it,' or 'Who Did This To You.'
Ouigi is wearing a BkC shirt, A.P.C. jeans, Clarks shoes and vintage Carrera sunglasses and carrying a BkC bag. His favorite store, other than his own, is Nom de Guerre.
If loud public chastising (the shout of “8 minutes for 8 items!” was directed at soul after soul by a staffer referred to as “fascist” by shoppers) and fervent crowds doesn't put you off, the A.P.C. sample sale is a solid choice for both male and female bargain hunters.
The good news: Though there's a range of discounts, most styles are half-off. The 30% off items are marked with the typical red dot, while the 50% off items are unmarked. Even more good news: the sale includes shoes. Sneakers were sliced to $90; most of the other shoes were only 30% off. The selection, however, was slim as of early this afternoon.
A note on the A.P.C.sale going on online and in Soho from a reader: "A.P.C.'s website is incorrectly listing everything as being on sale for FIFTY BUCKS. I almost had a heart attack when I thought their trench coats and shoes were going for that little." [Racked Inbox]
Label:A.P.C. Deal:40 to 50% off S/S '08 separates When/Where:Thursday, June 19th through Tuesday, July 22nd. Mon—Sat 11am—7pm; Sun noon—6pm. Online and at 131 Mercer St between Prince and Spring Sts (212-966-9685).
Just when you thought it was safe to slip back into those GAP regular fits, designer denim brands like 7 For All Mankind and True Religion make another lunge at your wardrobe with a whole new game plan. From huge leases for new flagships to hot collaborations with haute fashion houses, premium jean companies are determined to claw their way back onto the bums of New Yorkers.
