Racked LA Launches!

2008_4_rackedla.jpgAs promised, Curbed's new, well-tanned West Coast site Racked LA bounds out of the gate today. Folks, the password protection is off and that thing is live. The site, brought to you by one Tasha Nita Adams, offers all the store info, retail gossip and shopping madness that you've come to love at Racked, but with a particular LA slant. That means renderings of Santa Monica's soon-to-open 570,000 square foot mall, fabulous (and not so fabulous) Cali Street Scenes subjects and of course, sales and more sales. Enjoy.

Help Wanted: Racked Interns

helpwanted.jpgFledgling shoppers, your day has come: Racked is in the market for new editorial interns. Your job will incorporate various facets of real life blogging and journalism: pitching in with new features, gathering intel, and, we promise, so much more. Hours are somewhat flexible, but we're looking for around 10-15 a week. Duration is indefinite; the pay won't even get you a pair of socks at the Barneys warehouse sale. Do it for the glory.

If you're interested, drop an email to jobs@curbed.com with the subject header "Intern," explaining your interest in the gig in no more than two paragraphs. (If you've got a blog, be sure to tell us about it.) No resumes or other attachments, please. If we like what we see, we'll get back to you quickly.

Say Hello To Comment Flagging!

2008_01_comments.jpg

File this one under "Help us help you": Racked is now equipped with comment flagging. This allows you, our dear readers, to alert us to offensive or profane comments. Registered commenters (those with a handle; Guest commenters do not have flagging privileges) will now see a link titled "Flag Comment" in the footer of every comment. If you spot a comment that's in particularly poor taste, click the link and we'll handle the situation. Note: talking about how incredible Racked is is never in poor taste. Carry on.

Racked Debuts New Comments System

2007_10_rackedcomments.jpgAs with our friends at Curbed, today we're unveiling a new commenting system at Racked today. Deep breaths, friends: there are good times ahead. Among the highlights:

· You can now register for a commenter account, which gives you a unique screenname, plus the ability to upload an avatar that will appear alongside all your comments. (You need to enter a working email address because we're going to send you an email to activate your account; the email address you supply will never be used for any purpose other than account activation or password retrieval.)
· Comments from registered commenters are shown in blue, while those comments from the generic guest login fade to gray.
· Registered commenters each get a profile page, plus the ability to follow favorite commenters and the power to ignore those you dislike. The comments of people you're following appear in green, while those of people you're ignoring fade to an even lighter gray.
· The same commenter login works across all Curbed sites, including Curbed and Eater, so you only need to register once.

We've been excited by the growth in activity in the Racked comments as of late, and hope this continues the party. If you happen to encounter any bugs, or want to share feedback about the new system, email support@curbed.com. Thanks.
