The buzz over Alexander Wang just keeps growing. The designer, the focus (along with his beautiful new Tribeca showroom) of an article in today's WWD, has just revealed that he's going to launch a diffusion line, named T by Alexander Wang, and a shoe line. T, which should be priced at about $60 to $80 per piece, sounds a lot like the almost aggressively beaten-up tops Wang's usually seen sporting: "'Necklines are stretched and armholes are strategically lowered so that it looks worn in,' he explains. 'It’s like sleeping in a T-shirt and then wearing it the next day. It’s not this crisp little T out of the dryer. It’s draped and kind of wilted.'” The shoe line, on the other hand, is described as sexy and slightly hardcore, with five styles that boast body-piercing ring hardware.

A commenter reports that prices at the Alexander Wang sample sale still underway at 386 Broadway in Tribeca have already dropped: "I stopped by this evening after work and they had slashed $40 off most prices." [Racked Comments]
Today marks the second day of the Alexander Wang sample sale (continuing through Saturday) at 386 Broadway, where you can score some of the real Wang for the prices of his Uniqlo collection. Popping in last night, we spotted plenty of blousy dresses and cashmere left after the "vips" had their go at it, not to mention tons of shoppers who wisely brought along their main gays stylists for efficient decision making. Prices range from $40 for basics to $200 for some seriously detailed monochromatic dresses kept prim in their plastic sheaths.
Sadly, we didn't spot any famous faces like Fashionista did, but there sure were a lot of very tiny girls stripping down to their best underwear for the occasion. The crowd had come fully prepared for a winner-takes-Wang battle, but seeing that they could shop leisurely in the dwindling evening sun set a pleasant tone for the entire sale. Surprisingly there was no line to check out and they will be restocking daily.

Vogue UK is reporting that Alexander Wang's collection for Uniqlo is "selling out fast," but blog Coutorture begs to differ. "We were there just yesterday and happened to take a photo of just how much Alexander Wang is sitting in the store. It blows our minds that Vogue editors think that A. This is worthy of heading up today's top news stories (Er, Yves Saint Laurent just passed away. That's all you could come up with!?) and B. That they don't bother to investigate whether this is actually true...So, the real news today is that news, apparently, can be inventive and untrue and that if you want that dress, pictured in the Vogue.com story, there are about a million at Uniqlo in Soho." [Coutorture]
Sent moments ago from a tipster: "Lunchtime lull! At the very moment, I am virtually the only person perusing the Wang wonders! Only about 6 different dresses offered, but at Uniqlo prices and no bumrush of Wang-ites, its def worth a quick trip." [Racked Inbox]
We've just left the scene of Alexander Wang and Loden Dager's debut at Uniqlo and it's clear from the morning's turnout that it is really Alexander Wang's day. The slim designer made an early appearance, welcoming friends and press while the store was still closed off to regular customers. Shoppers waited patiently in line while VIPs entered early to enjoy drinks and snacks and to shop the racks of gray, black and white dresses (priced around 50 to 70 dollars apiece). Thankfully, the store was still fully stocked when staffers began letting regular folks in at about 9:50am.
This isn't your average Friday, folks. We've got Alexander Wang and Loden Dager's sweet sweet goodness going on sale at Uniqlo in Soho at 10am. Then the new Muji store in midtown swings open its doors midday. If we've said it once, we'll say it again: brace.
9:09am: Wangtime! Our Racked operative on the seen outside Uniqlo reports from the growing line: "There's about 15 of us in line—all women. Well, one guy. Everyone's pumped for affordable Alexander Wang—this collection is only coming out once, and you can't buy it online." Translation: get thee to Broadway, friends.
9:15am: More from the pre-party: "Shit, there are PR girls at the door with clipboards letting press in early. I'm really worried because i wonder if they'll sell out of all the small [dress] sizes to press before I get in. Doors at 10."
9:21am: "Two of girls on line are wearing Rogan for Target. They must go to all of these things."
9:35am: "There's about five more girls here. Everyone's waiting patiently—but press keep coming out of the store with huge bags of clothes. It's pretty depressing. Two girls came out with huge bags, and a photographer snapped their photos. Then another woman came out with a huge bag, wearing a designer outfit. Come on, lady."
9:37am: "Ooh, all anger dissipates: Wang is on the scene!"
This morning at 10am, LES boutique Suite Orchard kicked off their first ever sample sale in a showroom at 134 Spring Street. Promised were discounts of up to 75% off clothing and accessories from Alexander Wang, Jovovich-Hawk, Corpus and many other coveted brands. Sounds stellar, but how did it go? A Racked tipster files an early report:
Just got back from the Suite Orchard sale. I didn't realize it, but they're sharing a showroom with Fornarina (well, duh, same address and suite). Unfortunately, SO only has one rack of clothes in the whole room, and pickings were slim: I was there bright and early this morning and only saw a single Alexander Wang top. There were a handful of Alice Ritter maxi dresses and Sonia Rykiel pieces, but it was definitely underwhelming. Plenty of Fornarina, though.

The next big-deal "masstige" collection (mass+prestige) to hit after Gap Design Editions will be Alexander Wang's effort for Uniqlo. We're about a month and a half away from Wang's mass-market debut, and as such, it's only to be expected that photos of his work will leak to the net. On that note, here's another look at those dresses Style File previewed last month, courtesy of the UK's Style Bubble. From the look of things, this collection is going to do remarkably well, so you should expect a high level of shopping insanity come May 30th.
