Target's been tossing so many designer names at consumers these days that it's hard to keep everything straight. Currently in stores is the boho, hippy, slightly-70's collection from Jovovich-Hawk; on the horizon is a handbag collection with Gryson (out April 6th), jewelry from Subversive (available online now, will roll out in stores March 23rd), a women's swimsuit line from Rogan Gregory (out in May), bags from Botkier and womenswear from Richard Chai. Over on the Target pressroom site, images of the next Go International collection, to follow Jovovich-Hawk, have surfaced—but they're weirdly labeled Go International Private Collection 1. Is this Chai's work? The blue used in the Target collection does look just like the blue Chai showed on his Spring 2008 runway. Well whoever designed it, the clothing looks great. Rackage is a look inside recently-opened stores around town. Today, let's browse West Village shoe and handbag emporium Plaza Too.

We so wanted to hate on Plaza Too when we first stepped inside the Hudson Street boutique. Exhausted by the West Village mallification—specifically, the overabundance of high-end handbag and accessories stores one street over on Bleecker—Plaza Too's cutesy window displays (at right) with expensive handbags looked like another blow to the neighborhood.

But once you get over the fact that it's another pricey retailer for the (wealthy) West Village, you can appreciate Plaza Too for what is: a little one-stop shop for some of the best shoes and bags we've seen in a long time.

As promised, we bring you an update on this week's stellar handbag sample sale lineup. Yesterday, we said run to Rafe, stroll to Lauren Merkin, and just nix Hayden-Hartnett entirely. Today's contender is Botkier, the high-end designer renowned for buttery soft leather bags and a major sample sale following.

We have to admit, we don't really get die-hard Botkier enthusiasts. As reported earlier, there were around 70 shivering women in line by the time the doors swung open at 10am, and those at the front had been outside as early as 8:45am! Why, ladies?! The plush leather bags are lovely but do not substantiate hypothermia...or the $200-400 discounted prices. We browsed the selection and say save your cash and freezing toes. Head to Rafe instead.
