Despite a disconnected phone (trouble with Verizon), innerwear boutique Brooklyn Fox Lingerie is now open. The owner, a longtime Williamsburg resident, opened the shop after noting that there wasn't really a source for high-end lingerie in the 'burg. She's filled the space with lacy underpinnings from a wide variety of under-the-radar brands like Netherlands-based Marlies Dekkers, Andres Sarda from Barcelona and local talent Deborah Marquit. The petite 400-square-foot storefront, formerly home to wine shop Uva, was brightened up with textured antique wallpaper and eggshell-hued paint. Though the focus of the place is lingerie, Schoenberg is also stocking a few of Shiri Zinn's sculptural vibrators—something you definitely won't find anywhere else in the 11211.

Shoddy quality is just one of many reasons to avoid Victoria's Secret. We don't shop at the chain because we'd rather spend our dollars supporting an independent store. Soon, two new lingerie boutiques will be offering NYC shoppers a VS alternative.

Opening this Friday, elegant shop Journelle at 3 East 17th Street and Fifth Avenue will offer innerwear from brands like Araks, Vera Wang, Elle Macpherson and Huit. Also opening soon (exact date TK) is high-end undie emporium Brooklyn Fox Lingerie. The boutique, located in Williamsburg's mini-mall at 132 North 5th Street, will sell pieces from Andres Sarda, Marlies Dekkers, Badgley Mischka, Eberjey and Fleur't.
