Billboards: Topshop's Big Broadway Eye Candy

Soho: If you went to the trouble to erect a massive wall of plywood over your construction site, why not make the vertical space do double duty as a giant advertisement? Topshop has seen fit to cover its storefront at 478 Broadway with an image of supermodel and guest designer Kate Moss reclining in the surf in a sparkly gown. A sign that the icon will be present at the store's opening in October? One can hope.

RackedWire: Agent Provocateur's Kate Moss Ads Debut, Verve Staying Put

FRENCHVILLE—The first of Agent Provocateur's new stylishly porn-y video ads featuring Kate Moss debuted today. The set of six ads, collectively titled 'White Wedding' will premiere online over the next six days. Hiding behind the guise of their French name, somehow AP can say this with a straight face: "White Wedding' is a groundbreaking exploration in extending a narrative advertising campaign to also create an experimental film series. Responding to a six-part script treatment written by Agent Provocateur founder Joe Corré, Nick Knight and a stellar cast including Kate Moss and artists Jake and Dinos Chapman have created six striking campaign stills that storyboard "the demise of a bride's 'big day' and serialise the unravelling of the religious organisation behind it...The result is an intriguing set of stylish shorts depicting Kate Moss running the gamut from demure virgin bride to dangerous, Lynchian siren that suggests new applications and creative potential for fashion film in advertising." Uh huh. Shorter story: Kate Moss is in her undies. [RackedWire]

Racked Recap: The Year In...Lines
It's been a big year for New York City retail (and not just because Racked was born in March). This week, we'll relive the glorious highlights and gruesome lowlights, beginning today, with the Year in Lines. Other things we'll recap: The most notable closing, biggest openings, lamest openings and the most important retail stretches the city has to offer. So, let's begin.

Waiting to get their hands on Kate Moss for Topshop at Barneys
On line, in line—whichever expression you choose, New Yorkers have done a whole lot of waiting this year. Here, the top five massive and ridiculous queues:
5) Kate Moss for Topshop at Barneys: You waited out of love for Kate, love for Topshop, or love of eBaying. When the doors to Barneys opened, everyone rushed in to find...a pitiful display of overpriced tank tops, dresses and skinny jeans. Now that the hype's died down, prices on the clothing have been slashed at Barneys and Opening Ceremony. Guess that was a waste of time.
4) Phillip Lim at Uniqlo: Members of the press got first dibs on designer Phillip Lim's collection for Uniqlo. The public was left to fight over the few cute plaid dresses and slouchy shirts left on the racks. All was gone in a matter of hours.
More of what you waited for, this way. >>
