LONG ISLAND CITY—Say what you will about LIC, but is any other neighborhood having two wine tastings tonight? Court Square Wines (2420 Jackson Ave) threw open their doors for curious drinkers at 4:30pm and will stay open until 7pm; Hunter's Point Wine (40-07 Vernon Blvd) serves from 6pm until around 8pm. There's also a trunk show with free snacks at local boutique Subdivision (48-18 Vernon Blvd) from 6pm—9pm, so those visiting from other boroughs can make a night of it. [liQcity]
BRYANT PARK—Look, it's a schedule of this fall's Fashion Week! Get excited and/or be very afraid. [COACD]
CHELSEA—It sounds like the set-up to a heist movie: Starting tomorrow and running through Monday, 100 vendors will be selling old-school gems and timepieces as part of the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show at the Metropolitan Pavilion (126 W. 18th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.) Expect to see Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels, the much-chased Harry Winston and other jewelers of the 19th and 20th centuries. There's also a virtual tour that purports to show you around (thought we keep bumping into the glass-plated countertops). [RackedWire] —Image via liQcity
All evidence that the storefront on the corner of Bowery and Bleecker Street used to be a Rafe handbag boutique is gone this morning, as indie coffee spot Think Coffee has officially opened in its place. The new cafe is much smaller than their primary location on Mercer Street in the Village, but with full eastern and southern window exposures, it's more airy and makes for excellent Bowery people-watching. There are about 20 little tables with chairs, and a few cozy nooks towards the rear. The drink and food menus are similar to what's available at the other Think, with artisanal cheese plates and specialty wines scheduled to arrive soon; pastries are furnished by various neighborhood bakeries.

After 20 years selling wine and spirits at 253 Elizabeth Street in Nolita, Elizabeth & Vine is packing up its booze and heading to the Bowery, the boulevard of dreams these days. But fear not local patrons! A sign in the window of the store, located between Houston and Prince Streets, reassures customers it's just a hop around the corner...321 feet away, to be exact. The trusty shop, known for its low prices, solid selection, and quirky store owner, will be setting up next to Whole Foods, at 269 Bowery, just below Houston Street.
Elizabeth & Vine will remain open this week while they transition their inventory, but the new wine shop should be officially up and running on the Bowery by this Friday—with a store name change to Bowery & Vine to accompany the move. Not only is the new location more spacious than their current 600 square feet on Elizabeth, but Bowery & Vine will probably get more foot traffic, too...lest we forget, wine is the one feature Whole Foods Bowery is without.
